Margarita Vásquez: Diccionario del español en Panamá

En Panamá también se habla, y los panameños lo hacemos de una manera muy particular, tanto como los ticos o los colombianos, lo que ocurre es que, de tanto usarlo (el idioma), se nos rompe el oído consciente y nos parece muy normal que alguien sea batioso, sea un bagre o esté balsito. Panamá habla y también escribe, y exporta las palabras que le son cercanas, y las exhibe como una particularidad del habla que nos singulariza bajo el español como nuestra lengua.

La profesora y académica Margarita Vásquez, publicó en 2010 su brillante Diccionario del español en Panamá, el DEPA, que es posiblemente el único diccionario que uno puede disfrutar de madrugada muerto de risa, y con lágrimas en los ojos de alegría o de pura cabanga, “dirigido a la generalidad de los panameños, siempre interesados en los asuntos del idioma”, y para los visitantes y profesionales que se interesan por la idiosincrasia de nuestra manera de hablar en español.   8. It is also spoken in Panama, and we Panamanians do it in a very specific way, just like Ticos or Colombians. What happens is that because we use it so much (the language), our conscious hearing breaks down, and it appears very normal to us that someone is batoso, a catfish, or balsito.
